This post brought to you by Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now that the warm weather is rapidly approaching, I’m working hard at getting the last veggies planted in my garden. This year I decided that growing an organic garden with organic fertilizers vs. other conventional fertilizers would be best for family. It was perfect timing when the wonderful people at Whitney Farms®
asked if I’d like to try out their organic plant food! Three cheers for going all natural! Who wouldn’t want to try it?

Whitney Farms® products, such as their organic soil and organic plant food, have some nice features which make them ideal such as:
-low to no dust
-no manure odor
-they contain special microbes
-they have specially designed protein-based blends providing your plant with the correct nutrients.

I love planting different types of tomatoes and they have an organic fertilizer specifically for tomatoes. I just sprinkled a 1.5 cups across a 25 foot span.

The fertilizer will really help boost root growth and I won’t have to fertilize again until the tomatoes first bloom.

You don’t have to have a huge space to have an organic garden. I only have a narrow 3 foot strip running along my fence. It might not look like much now but look at how large it grows by August! Those tomatoes will reach almost 6 feet tall!

I’ll feel better about gardening organically not only for my children’s health but we also have a pond right behind our yard and chemical run off can be quite hazardous to all the wildlife living in it.

Kim! I had no idea you were such an urban homesteader–I’m so impressed and my goal is to have our garden going for next year. I’ll have to call for tips!

Wow! that makes me think I need to transplant my tomatoes right away before they take over! Plus it reminds me to fertilize already:)

A recent study released by the International Journal of Biological Sciences found that Monsanto’s GM Corn causes liver and kidney damage in lab rats. Monsanto only released the raw data after a legal challenge from Greenpeace, the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and French anti- GM campaigners. I’m sure the corn is fine to feed to our cattle or eat ourselves though. Right?
