Today I’m participating in the ScotchBlue™ Painting Party! A group of fantastic DIY bloggers, including myself, all completed projects with the help of ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape with Edge-Lock™ Paint Line Protector.  If you’d like to start at the beginning of the party and see more tutorials, head to Brittany’s blog: Pretty Handy Girl
You’ll also get a chance to win some ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape so you can create a project of your own.
Just read to the end to find out how!

You all remember a while back I redecorated my tween daughter’s room into a Roxy Girl Room.
Roxy room reveal

She really needed more lighting, but I couldn’t find a lamp I loved, nor did I want to pay a lot! So I decided to buy an inexpensive lamp and decorate a lampshade that would coordinate the room perfectly!

Decorating this lamp was so simple and took only an hour to complete! Let me show you how! The lamp was at Target for uber cheap!
Plain lamp (683x1024)

I decided where I wanted to paint stripes and simply wrapped the ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape around the shade. Make sure to press the edges of the tape really well to seal them. Now it was time to paint. STARTING on the tape and stroking downward, fill the area with color.

Remove the tape right when you finish painting your first set of lines. Then allow to dry. You all know how impatient I am so I whipped out the blow dryer to speed along the drying process.

This is where I started to get nervous, knowing I had to tape OVER the stripes I had just painted 10 minutes earlier. Putting the tape to the test, I taped over the 1st set of stripes and got ready to paint the 2nd set of stripes.
add additional tape for more stripes (1024x880)  Paint on 2nd set of stripes (683x1024)

But look! The lines came out clean, and the tape didn’t rip off any of the fresh paint!

Now comes the fun part! The little surprise I had in store for this lamp! I found this idea at Vintage Revivals and wanted to try it out for ages now. I printed out some hibiscus onto a Removable Label sheet. With my exact-o knife, I cut it out, peeled off the backing, and applied it to the INSIDE of the lamp.

This is how the lamp looks in the room with the light off, but…..

Turn the light on and …..ta-da! Isn’t that awesome?! I love it!

ScotchBlue Brand reached out to me to participate in the ScotchBlue Painting Party to celebrate the launch of their new ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape with Edge-Lock Paint Line Protector. My post represents my honest experience with ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape. I am not being paid for my answers, but I did receive ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape to assist in completion.

What a neat idea! I think I will try it for a lamp for my daughter. Horses and butterflies are her theme. How cool to have them appear only when the light is one. Brilliant idea!

That’s a cool lamp! Love the flower detail.

I’d like paint stripes on an old dresser we have.

I saw that lamp at Target recently. I don’t need a lamp, but do have some shades I’d love to experiment on, but first I’d like to do something with a mid-Century record cabinet I inherited from my neighbor years ago. I don’t Tweet, but I did Like Scotch on FB and posted the giveaway on my own FB page. Thanks for the great project and giving us a chance to play along.

What a great tutorial. I love the surprise reveal. I’ve been wanting to paint stripes on one wall in my son’s room but have been worried about messy bleed through. I should give this product a try. Thanks!

I am new into silkscreenimg which is where I need some Blue Tape. To save screen space, I put two patterns on one screen. I would tape off the unused pattern in order to paint the first one. Secondly, I am painting some boxes which is where the tape aids in securing stencils and painting designs.
