Seek a Dining Room Table ~ Find an Awesome Deal

This is the third home we’ve lived and I’ve yet to own a dining room table. Every dining room has either sat empty or became a playroom. Purchasing a table just has never been a priority, and financially, not a possibility. If my husband had his way, there’d be a pool table in the middle of the dining room. My best friend actually has a gorgeous, custom dining table that converts into a full size pool table! You’d never know it. But sadly, for my husband, our dining room just isn’t large enough.  So secretly, I’ve been in search of an affordable dining room table and now that my family is larger we need more space if we have company over!

Because my space won’t allow a large 110 inch long table, like I’d prefer, I thought a round pedestal table would fit nicely. Round tables really help create a cozy atmosphere for conversation. Below are some tables I had bookmarked for inspiration.

Just look at that ceiling! Isn’t this dining room beautiful with all the natural light?

I’m especially fond of large pedestal bases. They feel more visually balanced.

There are so many beautiful tables out in the blogisphere but I needed to find one I could actually afford!

Then one day, not too long ago, I dropped into a local thrift store and just look at what I found! This pedestal table AND the four chairs. The price tag said $120!!!!! My mouth dropped open and I snatched up the price tag slip and bolted , um, calmly walked to the nearest store clerk for some price clarification. Yep, $120 smack-a-roos, for the 60 inch table (YES! 60 inches! Woo-hoo!) and the 4 chairs. What an awesome deal!

I handed her my credit card immediately. In the meantime, three other women were scouring over the table in search of the price tag. (Mine Ladies! All mine! This is where I did my little MC Hammer-happy dance… in my head of course.)

Thrift Store Dining Table (1024x801)

Please ignore the rest of the dining room. It is in NO WAY decorated the way I’d like. It’s just been a storage area lately. And I’m not at all sure about the color scheme I’ll go with in there yet, or if that rug is even going to stay. The table needs a little TLC and I’d like to find four more chairs. The table will sit eight.

You have to see this table below. It is only a 48 in table and it alone sells for $1400. It is almost identical to my thrift store find! Don’t you just love a great bargain?

A random stop at a thrift store scored me a beautiful 60 in dining room table and chairs for an incredible bargain. You just never know what you’ll find and that’s what makes thrift store shopping so fun!

What’s the BEST thing you’ve ever scored at a thrift store? Tell me about it!

I found four original watercolors this weekend…still doing research on them, but they are really something.

What a SCORE! Love it! I once found a dining table with leaf and four Windsor chairs at a thrift store for $80 and had much the same experience (jaw dropped and ran to the register to claim it!). It still sits in our dining room and I’m so thankful not to have spend thousands on a dining set–I can let my son do crafts and play without fretting over every little mark or scratch. Love second-hand treasures.

Can’t wait to enjoy your good cooking at it! And I never find anything worthwhile at thrift stores. I’m thrifting-challenged.
