The year is quickly coming to a close and as I look back on all the DIY projects we’ve accomplished, I can’t help but be happy with how all the hard work paid off! Our house is finally starting to feel like a home. Let’s take a look at some of the Do It Yourself projects that you, the readers, chose as your favorites!

We took a plain and boring builder-grade kitchen island and gave it a pretty Kitchen Island Makeover.

We tamed all the kids’ clutter with a revamped thrift store find and chalkboard tagged baskets.

And the pantry was unloaded and organized in the New Year, New Pantry post. It still looks like this today! I love this pantry project!!!!

The master bathroom received a little bling by Adding a Glass & Stone Tile Border to the sunken tub. This DIY project was so easy!

Then I guess I kind of attacked every mirror in the house and did a DIY framing series!

This one was How to Frame a Mirror.

Then I took on Pottery Barn Teen & Ballard Designs and created a few knockoffs.

We jumped on the Board and Batten craze too!

The builder stock, maple bathroom cabinets in my daughters’ bathroom received a total refinishing in espresso paint with distressing and glazing.

Simple, DIY crafts seemed to be what everyone wanted this year. You all must have been as busy as me!

The Birch Bark Candles were very easy and fast to make and give a beautiful glow when lit. They were perfect for fall and Christmas decorating.

The Bay Leaf Trees were another super easy and inexpensive craft to make that really could be used in decorating year round.

And last but not least, the Glass Float Ornaments post was your all time favorite of 2011.

Thank you so much for visiting Sand & Sisal this past year! My to-do list is a mile long for 2012 and I look forward to you joining me along the way!

LOVE that pantry. My pantry looks like it blew up right now. Stuff everywhere. WOULD LOVE for it to look like this. Where did all the cereal containers come from?

Mindy- I found the containers at Costco. They carried them for several years, but I’m not sure if they still do. I need more!!

    Thanks everyone! 🙂
