Did you all see the cozy coastal fall family room tour? If not, you can see it here. I was so excited to have my house in clean order that I took more photos than could fit into one post. Today I’m sharing fall in the coastal kitchen and dining area with you all. To be honest, it has been anything but fall feeling here along the coast, but this is pretty much the norm for us during September. We have been in the high 80’s-90’s with humidity, so my fall decor is more of a casual blending of late summer and early fall…. and I’m loving it!
Like I mentioned in the previous post, our daughter is getting married next month so my focus has been on all things wedding. I wanted any transitional decor to be easy and inexpensive and subtle. Money is tight (obviously because of wedding expenses), so I tried to simply reuse what I had on hand and yet I love fresh greenery always.
Have you all checked out Trader Joe’s florals? They have the most gorgeous floral selection and the prices are below wholesale prices! I can not tell you how happy I have been with their greenery and especially roses! Big bunches of seeded eucalyptus or silver dollar eucalyptus run around $2.99 a bunch, and 10 gorgeous roses that last for 2 weeks cost only $6.99! Guess who will be my go-to place for the flowers for my daughter’s wedding?
The color palette for the family room comprised shades of dusty greens, navy blues, grays, creams and neutral wood and dried grass tones. This color palette flowed into the kitchen and into the kitchen dining area.
Texture, texture, texture all bathed in a quiet, neutral color palette is the name of the game! These shallow woven baskets from HomeGoods were such a great find and though they are meant for coffee table display, I love how they look mounted upon the wall. My white pottery collection amplifies the interest of patterns with all their intricate cut outs. This console table stores all my extra serving dishes and I love that they can be displayed beautifully!
Our garden is filled with hydrangeas and I brought in a few of the last late summer blooms to enjoy indoors. This bouquet is a combination of ‘Chantilly Lace’ and ‘Strawberry Sundae’ panicle hydrangeas. Dried hydrangea is so delicate, beautiful, full and abundant and help all of us transition from summer into fall, especially here in the south.
Keeping the color palette neutral, I added in my most favorite decor piece of this season… this gorgeous handmade macrame table runner! It is a casual, textural, and relaxed addition to the table. Just look at that fabulous fringe!
These pretty, soft cream, tan and gray plaid napkins are the same napkins that I used to make pillow covers in the family room. Don’t shy away from blending multiple shades whites and creams together, especially for a table setting. The combination delivers a cozy and calm fall vibe.
I hope your were able to glean a few fall decorating ideas for the kitchen and dining area! Have a lovely weekend friends!
